Your organisation may have good reasons for waiting before using AI in Finance. Perhaps the cost is difficult to justify, IT is still assessing how sensitive data would be handled, or the team needs more confidence in the accuracy of the outputs.

Those decisions deserve time and attention, but they do not prevent you from improving work that already follows clear, repeatable rules.

### Why an organisation might wait

Depending on the product, AI costs can involve subscriptions, usage or token charges, alongside implementation and ongoing review. Until the likely benefit is clear, that can be a difficult investment to support.

Security brings another set of questions about where data is processed, who can access it, and how the provider handles it. Finance also needs effective checks on accuracy and a way to investigate errors before relying on an output.

An organisation may still be agreeing its policy, assigning ownership or finding the capacity to introduce another technology. There is no reason to treat that preparation as a failure to make progress.

### What can change in the meantime[![Positive8 Blog Promos (1)-1](https://blog.positive8.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Positive8%20Blog%20Promos%20(1)-1.png?width=200&height=286&name=Positive8%20Blog%20Promos%20(1)-1.png)](https://positive8.com/contactus)

Take the preparation behind a monthly report. Someone may download exports, check the period, map account codes, and refresh a template before the figures are ready for review.

Where the inputs are accessible and the rules are clear, much of that preparation can be automated without an AI model, leaving Finance to review the report and investigate anything unusual.

### How Positive8 can build the automation

The technical work starts with connecting the source systems through supported application programming interfaces, database connections, or controlled file transfers, with access agreed alongside IT.

The data then needs a consistent structure, including account mappings, dates, and approved calculations. Tools such as SQL, Power Query or data pipelines can handle those transformations, while workflow software schedules the steps and alerts someone when a check fails.

At Positive8, we combine finance understanding with the data and systems expertise to design and build that process. We test outputs and difficult cases with your team, document the solution, and agree who will monitor and maintain it.

### Choosing a practical starting point

Conventional automation still needs security, testing, and a business case, because errors in the data or rules can produce incorrect results. A workflow with no AI model calls has no AI token charges, although licences, infrastructure, implementation and support still need to be budgeted for.

The intended benefit is less manual preparation and rework, measured against the effort involved today. Which recurring task would your team most like to make less manual?
